I first started out with a blog. Then twit. Then blog. Now I've decided to do both :) But of course not like spam every day la haha.

17th May 2010 - 21st May 2010

Canoing Camp! Well I kind of really enjoyed it haha, although Solomon hated the expedition lol. Still went for it and canoed in the rain. Kind of reminded myself of Sec 2 OBS when I canoed in the rain too. The feeling was cool - I mean literally cooling. But also you try clear your specs and find it futile and you peddle without looking where you're paddling and all that in a matter of seconds. Paddling as fast as you ever can and be amazed at yourself when you reach your destination. Eating snacks in the kayak. And of course the basic revision of the techniques.

Front Paddle
Back Paddle
Sweep Stroke
Classic Draw
J Draw

And the parts of the paddle.

Shaft
Power Face
Blade ( I think )

And of course the parts of the kayak.

Bow
Stern
Port
Starboard
Hull
Comming ( dunno how spell LOL )
Front Deck
Hind Deck
Cockpit

And the T-ex rescue and capsize drill!

For the expedition we canoed from Serimbun to the causeway, then it RAINED and we canoed to kranji park. In the end we didn't leave the main part of Singapore! Set up our tent, bathed and I slept on the WET tent wtf! But cannot expect for something very good right lol. Then the next day canoed back. Total it was 17km. Still less than OBS but nice try I suppose.

All this constitutes part of the one-star camp lol. And we passed yay.

Good experience :) and there were more experiences to try than theory lessons. Not forgetting I left the camp with a darker skin.

22 May 2010
Yesterday Benjamin invited me to some concert lol. And he didnt say much. End up I went to a band which I never even knew existed till I went LOL. But I think it's quite nice ( besides the people I met ) and also the Red Rain band and the atmosphere there.

Anyway, besides that korean show I've been watching another one LOL. Of course there's chinese subtitles. AND This one got taeyeon's if inside :)

This one is all the NG thing dam funny LOL. I mean after you see the real thing then you see the NG yea.

Lit test on Thursday omg.

15 days of not posting wow. And it felt like only yesterday. Time is really flying ~

Anyway, back to results. A roller coaster ride I think. At the start of the term everything was going bad. I can infer this because my math got D7 and my chinese C5. Just as I thought things would get worse, I experienced a change of luck. Chem A1 IHC A1 Physics A2 Bio A2. Then, just as I thought things were getting better, my English got C6 and Lit B4. A roller coaster ride much?

3.333 for msg. oh well. Next term's not going to be like last year ( where I broke my highest record). I'm going to aim for 2. Serious lol.

Was slacking awhile today and watching this show ( which i had been watching for some time )

Quite nice lol. and today was the ending! The guy died though o.o

Canoing Camp with Tiet Ho and Solomon tomorrow! :D

-Saturday, May 01, 2010-

Well initially this post is supposed to be about the week's events, including me oversleeping on my way home yesterday all the way to changi, means reaching home later when I wanted to go home earlier. However, today Zhonghui mentioned Tiet ho typing a long post, and well being curious I went to take a look, and I deleted my draft about the week's events. Maybe it's time to think about this issue too.

Well, undoubtedly Tiet Ho's right. While some words have been replaced by the word "fucked" in his post, the essential idea is still there - that life is indeed meaningless. Everyone in the world, much as people believe to lead different lives, at the end of the day are the same basic stage. Yong Xiang today also asked me, what is the meaning of life? To him, the meaning of life is to die, because it is only when before you die then you realise the true meaning of life. When one realises it halfway, it is not a real meaning because one has only gone through half of his life and so would not be able to give an accurate depiction.

Nevertheless, in view of all this the stand I prefer is to remain somewhat oblivious. I do not deny that perhaps this may be the thinking of a weaker person, that despite the fact there is no meaning to life, I choose to ignore it. But to me, I don't mind being the weaker person because, so what if at the end of the day, we find out that we are just fucked up? So what if at the end of the day, or rather even in the middle( like now) we realise that there's no meaning to life? If this is all one's mind is preoccupied about, then one will never lead a happy ( albeit temporary ) life.

I'm not claiming or stating anything about Tiet Ho's life ( because it's really a preference ) but to me I'd choose not do so. Take fame or love for example. In fame, there is a climax, and a pitfall. While it is undeniable that at the end of the day we are back to square one, working hard towards the climax is by far in my opinion the important part. If we all only think about "at the end of the day", we would undoubtedly be unable to experience any of these sorts of things. And again, even if these experiences are temporary, won't it be better to have it for awhile than none? What about love? The pleasure of liking someone and then at the end of the day break-up/marry is also in a sense a experience, although this time only longer. We all die in old age, but these moments are what that give us our feelings at certain point of time.

This is also why while I acknowledge all that Tiet Ho said, I choose to remain indifferent. Another thing I would like to mention also is the idea of complications. For one, I am not one who like to complicate things. I prefer to keep things simple (to a certain extent). The ideas Tiet Ho mentioned are in a sense a factor that is affecting any form of work that we do. This makes every aim and goal we have vague and ambiguous. For example, completing a piece of summary. When we work, we might not need these summary skills and in the end, we all just die, so why do it? But if we cancel out that factor, our aim would just be to "finish the summary". This is because we cannot predict the future and never know when it will come in handy. And these things come in handy not only for us to secure a job etc, but rather give us the experience that is unique to us.

In fact, all this actually point out to my ( I repeat, my ) basic principle which is to "if you can have it, why not?" If you can enjoy some moments of happiness at some point of time ( even if sadness peaks in when things do not go your way), why not? If you can enjoy a bit of excitement in life, why not? If you can get an experience that many people do not get, why not? Maybe, ignorance is bliss at certain points of times too.

***

Okay, I know this isn't something everyone agrees upon I suppose, but I really feel that way. It's been some time since I've mentioned so much about something, I guess it really helps me to revise what has been going on.
